You're invited to visit the Brookings County Museum in Volga,
SD, which is six miles west of Brookings on Highway 14. You'll find interesting and educational displays in this unusual
building, which features a facade made of stones gathered from the surrounding fields.
The Historical Society accepted a generous offer for space for a county
museum complex in the Volga City Park. The main building was constructed to join with the District #89 one-room schoolhouse
from the 1880's, the historic 1870 Sundet Log Cabin, and a large, unheated building which houses farm machinery and other
early equipment.

Jokum and Maren Sundet with
their three children, Ole, Mathea, and Karen, settled in the Medary vicinity in 1871 and built this log house from local timber
the following year. It was located a short distance northwest of where the I-29
Highway crosses the Sioux River, about 10 miles south of Brookings, SD.
